Established in November of 2011, the Center for the Study of Global Infection of Kyushu University Hospital has become an integral part of the worldwide effort to control the spread of infectious diseases. Infection control is an important global issue with serious social implications. Our mandate includes the study and control of outbreaks of disease in hospitals, drug-resistant bacteria, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), influenza, and international transmission of infectious diseases. We are working hard to promote collaboration among our many associated community medical organizations in the Kyushu area and among the many East Asian medical institutions with which we are affiliated.

The aims of the center are:
- to prevent nosocomial infection,
- to give advice on appropriate treatments,
- to be a leader among the hospitals in our region,
- to create a network of hospitals including Kyushu and other Asian countries
